چکیده
Abstract Properly situating Giorgio de Chirico’s metaphysical works within his lifetime is complicated due to incomplete provenances, practice of deliberately falsifying dates, and the known existence forgeries. De palette may have altered over time, shifts in personal taste, changes availability materials, innovations paints; elucidating variations thereof during period (1911–1919) offers analytical insights that complement traditional connoisseurship when attempting correctly position a given work lifetime. To this end, eleven paintings from period, two style but painted 1940s backdated 1910s, were analyzed by non-destructive portable X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. Analysis some was further complemented with micro-destructive analysis scanning electron microscopy coupled energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry, as well Raman Fourier transform infrared While grounds are variable, consistent includes: lead white, zinc ochres umbers, magnetite, bone or ivory black, vermilion, chrome yellow, Naples copper acetoarsenite, chromium oxide green, Prussian blue. Less commonly used pigments include cerulean blue cadmium lack white vermilion.

The metaphysical art of Giorgio de Chirico. Migraine or epilepsy?
It has been suggested that the great Italian painter Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978), who developed the unique style of 'metaphysical art', suffered from migraine and used some of his morbid manifestations as a source of inspiration for his paintings. Yet, whereas many of the symptoms that de Chirico described are rare in migraine, they are frequently encountered in patients with temporal lobe e...
متن کاملPalette-Style Volume Visualization
In this paper we propose a palette-style volume visualization interface which aims at providing users with an intuitive volume exploration tool. Our system is inspired by the widely used wheel-style color palette. The system initially creates a set of direct volume rendered images (DVRIs) manually or automatically, and arranges them over a circle in 2D image space. Based on the initial set of D...

In the epistemological context, Hume argues that we can have no rational knowledge of matters of fact, reason in its strict or a priori sense yielding intuitive or demonstrative knowledge only of relations among ideas. Rather, our knowledge of matters of fact involves our applying a psychologically constituted relation of causal necessity to empirical elements. And while these elements, impress...
متن کاملPhysicalism, Pluralism and Causal Completeness: On the Metaphysical Foundations for Philosophy of Mind
The so-called Exclusion argument (Kim 2000; Papineau 2004) about mental causation applies one premise that is typically accepted without much discussion: the thesis of causal completeness of the physical domain (CCP). In part one I evaluate Papineau’s (2001) argument for the CCP. I argue that this argument is not satisfying and that it is incomplete. The rest of the thesis is dedicated to an al...
